The Third Schedule of the Companies Act, 2017 says that the company is a Public Interest Company.

The company bought the Sui-Multan System from Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and the Dhulian-Rawalpindi-Wah system from Attock Oil Company Limited. The Sui-Multan System has 217 miles of 16-inch and 80 miles of 10-inch diameter pipes. When the company first started doing business, it sold an average of 47 MMCFD of gas in two areas, Multan and Rawalpindi, to 67 different customers.

With a big network in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) serves more than 7.22 million customers in North Central Pakistan. It is the largest integrated gas company in the region and is certified to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards. The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (PAK-EPA) has linked SNGPL’s 11 sites to the “SMART2” Program. The company has been running and maintaining high-pressure gas transmission and distribution lines for more than 50 years. In its role as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor, it has also grown to include planning, developing, and building pipelines for itself and other businesses.

There are over 9,304.69 km of transmission lines in the SNGPL system, which goes from Sui in Baluchistan to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These are the main lines and the loop lines. 16 regional offices are in charge of the distribution activities that cover 5,284 key towns and villages close by in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The distribution system is made-up of 142,998 km of pipes. SNGPL has more than 7.22 million customers in the cement, fertilizer, general industry, residential, and commercial sectors. Categories of Gas Consumers and Payment Plan by SNGPL

Residential Consumers:

  • Standalone meters for all residential houses and flats using gas for household needs.

Religious Places, Educational Institutions, and Charitable Institutions:

  • Mosques, churches, temples, madrassas, government and semi-government offices, hospitals, guest houses, armed forces messes, langars, universities, colleges, schools, private educational institutions, orphanages, and charitable institutions. Gas supply is through bulk meters attached to these establishments.

Commercial Units:

  • All establishments registered as commercial units with local authorities or involved in direct commercial sales. This includes cafes, bakeries, milk shops, tea stalls, canteens, barber shops, laundries, cinemas, clubs, theaters, private offices, clinics, maternity homes, etc.

Industrial Consumers:

  • All consumers engaged in processing industrial raw materials into value-added finished products, including the hotel industry (excluding industries with separate prescribed rates).

Payment Plan:

  • SNGPL offers an advance payment plan for all categories of consumers.
  • The plan includes a floating return equivalent to six months Karachi Interbank Offered Rate (KIBOR) minus 2%.
  • The period for advanced payment is restricted to one year as per management policy.
